The past few days I have been working on two gorgeous sheer maxi's in both black and purple. Because I didn't have a pattern (and I'm a slight perfectionist) it involved a lot of unpicking, resewing and general teeth clenching! This ain't a easy DIY as chiffon is one tricky mofo to sew but if you have moderate sewing skills you'll be fine!

You will need:
- At least 1.5-2 metres of chiffon/sheer fabric- Elastic band (enough for your waist)- Thread- Sewing tools

1. Cut two fabric pieces. The first 55cm (front) and the second 60cm (back). The selvedge will be at the waist and at the hem. You can adjust this depending on your size or how gathered you want your skirt.
2. Overlock all raw edges.

3. Sew 45cm down (2cm seam allowance) on each side. This will make the side splits.

4. Fold the waistband down, this will form where the elastic will go. How far down you'll sew depends on the width of your elastic. Make it only a few millimetres wider than your elastic. Don't forget to leave a small hole to feed the elastic through.

5. Once you've fed the elastic through, overlap the two ends and secure with MANY stitches! Close up the hole. To secure the elastic in place, do a few stitches near the side seams.

6. OPTIONAL - Depending on how you want your skirt to look, you can make a little tube to go underneath. All I did was measure my hips and make a two layer tube skirt with a length of 35cm. Hand sew inside the waistband.

7. Finish off the edges and bring up the hem if required.. VOILA!

Back from Thailand with jewel toned goodies!

Firstly this EPIC vintage top. Kinda crazy story how I found it.

It was 11:20pm in Bangkok and I was running around this small market trying to find gifts. Everything closed at 11:30pm so I had my speed shopper/bargainer cap on. I passed up on some fake Givenchy tees and headed over to a vintage stall. Hello sequined top. $30. Yes please.

Also bought some mandatory Chanel Rouge Allure in Flamboyante. Gotta love duty-free!

DIY perspex cuffs..

A few weeks back, Gabby and I made perspex cuffs (thanks to Love Aesthetics).

They only cost about $1 each and are easy and quick to make!

You will need:

Perspex peices 8cm x 15cm

Oven and oven tray

Tea towel and oven mitts

Sand paper or nail file

1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees celscius

2. Prepare the perspex by filing down the edges

3. Place the perspex in the middle of a baking tray & place in the oven

4. Remove from the oven after 5mins (make sure you don't burn it as bubbles will appear)

5. Shape the perspex to fit your wrist.. be careful they can be very hot!

6. Let it cool, if it doesn't fit just pop it back in the oven and try again

Last night we headed along to Rubi's Flinders Lane store launch. It was a wonderland of candy, white cosmo's and super affordable heels and accessories.

So many cute pieces that I want including the oversized envelope wallet, Miu Miu inspired glitter heels & some old school loafers. I also got to meet the lovely Natalie from Florence & Alexander.. check out her blog.

DIY Project 2: Bolt bracelet. It's easy, all you need is the same tools from DIY 1.

1. What you'll need from the hardware store: rope, a quick link closure, 3 bolts, 2 6mm splices.

2. Cut the rope enough to wrap around your wrist + some. Burn the edges.

Turn one of the ends around and clamp with the splice.

3. Chuck on the bolts and repeat the splicing process. Wrap it around your arm and close with the quick link

DIY project 1..

GPVS & I decided to embark on a few DIY projects now that we're on uni holidays. The first project is this chunky industrial bolt necklace which is actually pretty easy to make.

1. What you'll need from the hardware store: At least 1/2 metre of thick rope, 3 bolts, 2 large splices and a link. I chose the hooky one and Gabby chose the quick link.

2. These are the tools you'll need: Clampy thing, scissors and matches/lighter.

3. Cut your rope depending on desired length. Burn the ends to stop it fraying. Turn one of the ends around and clamp with the splice.

4. Add on the bolts and close it up with another splice.

5. Use whichever closure floats your boat and VOILA!

I thought I would list some of my favourite places in Ho Chi Minh. Vietnam is such a great country, so if you get a chance to visit, live it up and don't miss out on my top 3 destinations!

1. L'Usine - 151/1 Dong Khoi St District 1 HCMC

The place is amazing! Hipster cafe meets quirky boutique. Kinda similar to Fat in Melbourne, but even better as there's cupcakes!

2. Tricia & Verona Tailors - 39 Dong Du Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 HCMC

The amazing girls at Tricia & Verona made me 2 x dresses, 2 x shirts and 2 x tees for around $200USD. Definitely worth visiting if you're in HCMC for longer than a few days. Great quality and reasonable turn-around.

3 - Hoa Tuc 74/7 Hai Ba Trung, District 1, HCMC

This was hands down my favourite restaurant in HCMC. From the home-made Silken Tofu to prawn parcels and soft-shell crab.. they have everything (incl. fresh coconuts)!

I was invited to attend the Skin and Threads GPO store opening the other night which turned out to be a lovely evening. This store is soon turning into my favourite place to get my luxe basics and the best bit is, you can buy online!

Amelie is such a brilliant film. It is up there with my absolute favourites including anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Clueless, Hors De Prix (another Audrey Tatou film), September Issue & Devil Wears Prada.

If you haven't watched any of these before.. you need to go to the video store RIGHT.THIS.VERY.SECOND.

After a little coffee at my local cafe, De Clieu Gertrude Street, my sis and I took a few snapshots.

PART ONE

Introducing my new Topshop Walberg Platforms.. it's love!

Although they are super high making me about 6''2 (no joke, I'm 5''7 and the heels are 5''), they are quite comfortable to walk in. Can't wait to wear these out on the town with a cute dress and jacket combo.
